Re-add a `hwlock_acquire()` method, but this time without a timeout
parameter. From a functional point of view, this is just a wrapper
around `mutex_lock()`.
Additionally, add `hwlock_acquire_nonblock()` which behaves like
`mutex_trylock()`.
