Remove legacy HW lock interface

Removes the old interface which was only a shim to the new one anymore.

HW locks are expected to eventually succeed or immediately return (if requested).

Looks good to me! Thanks for keeping our codebase clean.

However, I'm only a bot - so a human will still have to approve this request.

This looks great; thanks a lot for going through all those modules and finally fixing them! If you've already done a quick test, I don't think there are any issues and this should be merged ASAP :)

And we even get a smaller binary from this! 264 bytes, but still at least a reduction for once ...
